What to include on a handyman invoice

  • Each task as a separate line so the customer sees what was done
  • Hourly rate or per-task price
  • Materials purchased, ideally with receipts
  • Minimum charge or trip fee policy
  • Date of service
  • Accepted payment methods

Handyman invoicing tips

  • Set a minimum charge (often 1 hour) so small jobs are still worth the drive.
  • Create a price list for common tasks (TV mounting, faucet swap) and bill them as flat rates.
  • Check your state's handyman limit – many states cap unlicensed job sizes (for example $500–$1,000).
  • Ask for payment before you leave; small invoices are the easiest to forget.

How to use this template
