AI Scope of Work Generator

Describe the project in your own words. AI turns it into a structured scope of work – objectives, deliverables, milestones, assumptions and what is out of scope – and you can send the deliverables straight to a quote.

What is a scope of work?

A scope of work (SOW) describes exactly what will be done on a project: the goals, the deliverables, the timeline and milestones, what the client must provide, and – just as important – what is not included. It is usually attached to a quote or contract, and it is your best protection against scope creep.

What a good SOW contains

  • Overview – the project and why it is being done
  • Objectives – what success looks like
  • Deliverables – each concrete thing you will hand over
  • Milestones and timeline – when each part is due and when the client reviews it
  • Assumptions and client responsibilities – content, access, feedback times
  • Out of scope – work that will be quoted separately
  • Acceptance criteria – how a deliverable is approved
  • Fees and payment schedule

How to use the AI scope of work generator

  1. Describe the project as you would to a colleague – it can be rough.
  2. Add the client, budget and timeline if you know them, and click Write scope with AI.
  3. Edit the result: check every deliverable and exclusion carefully.
  4. Click Create a quote from this to send the deliverables to the quote generator as line items, add your prices and download the quote.

Scope of work vs statement of work

The terms are often used interchangeably. Strictly, a statement of work is a broader contract document (common in government and enterprise procurement) that contains the scope of work along with pricing, legal terms and governance. For freelancers and small agencies, a clear scope of work attached to a quote and a simple contract does the same job.

Tips to prevent scope creep

  • Use numbers: "6 pages", "2 rounds of revisions", "up to 10 product photos".
  • Always include an "Out of scope" section.
  • Agree a change-request process: new work gets a new quote before it starts.
  • Price change requests with your hourly rate or day rate.

Frequently asked questions

Is the scope of work generator free?

Yes. The template is free and always available; the AI version uses our free daily AI allowance.

Can I turn the scope into a quote?

Yes. Click Create a quote from this – the deliverables open in the quote generator as line items, ready for you to add prices.

How detailed should a scope of work be?

Detailed enough that someone who was not in your meetings could tell what is and is not included. Lists of specific deliverables with quantities work better than paragraphs.

Who writes the scope of work?

Usually the freelancer or agency doing the work writes it, and the client reviews and approves it before the project starts.
